Ep 36 INCELs

May 25, 2018

We go down the #INCEL rabbit hole in Episode 36. What IS an INCEL? What is the "INCEL rebellion," a "Chad," a "Stacy," a "Normie," and all the other various language and ideas guiding this particularly dangerous group of men. We also give you new language: "aggrieved entitlement," and "misogynistic terrorism." With all the #massshootings today, mostly committed by young white men who are angry with women for denying them sex, we provide a basic primer on this movement and make the connection, which is something that is being ignored in mainstream media outlets.

The #TrumpsterFire addresses #POTUS's misogyny (or hatred of women). Our #FierceWomanWarriors this episode are two #womenwriters who have shared their stories and exposed #JunotDiaz as a sexual predator: Zinzi Clemmons, author of What We Lose and Carmen Maria Machado, author of Her Body and Other Parties.

Our #MediaMinute asks you to watch the second season of Hulu's series The Handmaid's Tale. And finally, our #ActivistAction asks you to buy books by women #whistleblowers.

Our newest segment, Fierce Woman Warrior, is a brief profile on an amazing woman who is actively working to change her community. Inside 254 Presents: A Collaborative Roundtable Discussion with Raging Chicken Out d’Coup Podast on Sexual Misconduct in PA Capitol; Believing Women; and How to Fight Inequity in our Power Structures

December 22, 2017

In this special end of 2017 episode, we share our very first collaborative podcast roundtable with our friends, Kevin Mahoney and Sean Kitchen, over at Raging Chicken Radio's Out d'Coup Podcast. Our passionate discussion covers recent allegations of sexual misconduct in Pennsylvania state government and the need to hold the PA Democratic Party accountable for its role in perpetuating a culture of repressive sexism. We also delve into inequitable power structures and why it is necessary to flip the script and start believing women who are speaking out about sexual harassment, sexual assault, and toxic sexist culture. We end our discussion on note of hope and a list of women candidates running for office in 2018 and what you can do to fight unbalanced power structures in your own life and networks.

Be sure to check out Raging Chicken's Out d'Coup podcast and consider donating to support their important, independent, progressive work in Pennsylvania. These structures don't change themselves, so we are all in this together!

Ep 23 The Death of Compassion and Introducing a New Segment: Fierce Woman Warrior

October 27, 2017

In Episode 23, we share a specific recent incident that led us to today's topic: the death of compassion in our social and economic structures. We also talk about how our community of individuals acted compassionately, and we ask how much we can bear when structural solutions either fail or are rejected. In the Trumpster Fire, we criticize Trump's handling of Puerto Rico, specifically, his insult to the San Juan mayor, his paper towel toss, and his paternalistic comment about the disaster relief budget. Our newest segment, Fierce Woman Warrior, begins TODAY, which is a brief profile on an amazing woman who is actively working to change her community. Our first Fierce Woman Warrior is Pema Chodron. Our Media Minute encourages you to read Kristin Neff's book, Self-Compassion: The Proven Power of Being Kind to Yourself  and Michael Stone's Yoga for a World Out of Balance, and our Activist Action asks you to consider lending money to a woman in another country via Kiva Loans. Empower yourself by joining our community and feel less alone in this topsy-turvy time. Ep 18 Charlottesville and white supremacy: Inside 254 takes a side

August 18, 2017

In Episode 18, we pick a side on the events in #Charlottesville and discuss the white supremacist structure of the United States. In the Trumpster Fire, we define and discuss false equivalency, equivocation, and how Trump's use of "on many sides" in relation to the Nazi rally and counterprotests in #Charlottesville is dangerous. Our Media Minute and Activist Actions ask you to dig deeper. This no-holds-barred episode is a bit longer than usual, and digs into some lesser-reported angles of the Charlottesville incident. Join us and #resist. Share this episode with your social media networks and ask others to listen and join this fight. We can do better together.
